Kieran Mitham

First Contact Practitioner & HEE/NIHR Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Fellow

Dynamic Health Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Specialist and Pelvic Health Services

Kieran qualified as a physiotherapist in 2018 from University of Essex. He has worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapy in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Currently he works as a First Contact Physiotherapist for Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust alongside his HEE/NIHR Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic & Practitioner Fellowship he was successfully awarded in 2022. 

Kieran’s previous published research has included systematic reviews, scoping reviews and national survey investigating the management of tendinopathy and the psychological and psychosocial outcome measures used by researchers. In addition to the publications, he has previously presented findings from his national survey at Physiotherapy UK conference. Working alongside his supervisors at Edge Hill University and Manchester Metropolitan University, the focus of his HEE/NIHR PCAF award is a qualitative study exploring the experiences and expectations of patients attending First Contact Physiotherapists in primary care. Going forward he aims to be successful in the application for a PhD fellowship exploring the factors associated with workforce strategy for Allied Health Professionals in the NHS.
